SLIDESHOW: Peter Andre is all smiles in Horsham

Waiting for Video...

TV star and musician Peter Andre opened a playground for children with special needs in Horsham today (Monday September 10).

He was invited to Queen Elizabeth II Silver Jubilee School in Comptons Lane, to cut the ribbon on the outdoor play area for two-to-six-year-olds.

He said: “I have not stopped smiling. The kids come up with such amazing things, it’s just so different.

“We can call it special but it’s different and they use their minds in such creative ways.”

He was given a tour of the school by headteacher Lesley Dyer, class teacher Vicky Nicolaou, and Barry Hancock who kick-started funding for the project.

Mrs Dyer said that they aim to have the kids outside for 50 per cent of the time, and the new area would be of great benefit to the children.

Mr Hancock explained: “It was just a sea of mud before.”
