Seeking a young star

PARENTS, grandparents, guardians and teachers are being invited to nominate a child who they think deserves to be a ‘star’.

Old Barn Nursery & Garden Centre at Dial Post is looking for nominations for a child who has VIP qualities and would like to help Father Christmas open his grotto.

Manager Mig Ammolla said: “We are officially opening our Winter Wonderland displays and grotto to customers on Sunday November 20 at 11am.

“We’re looking for one child to come to the event as our VIP guest and be treated as a star.”

The winner will receive a free pass to visit Santa followed by lunch for the winning child and up to five members of their family in the garden centre’s restaurant. They will also receive a selection of children’s items from the Christmas shop.

Mig added: “This year our Winter Wonderland experience is themed around the traditional poem ‘Twas the night before Christmas’.

“Entry to the Winter Wonderland costs £7 per child. This includes a magical journey through the Winter Wonderland, a visit to Father Christmas in his grotto, a gift and an ‘I’ve seen Father Christmas’ badge.”

Winter Wonderland entry for adults costs £1.50 per person.

Parents, grandparents, guardians and teachers can email or write in to Mig at the garden centre to give details of who they wish to nominate for the title and why.

All emails and letters must include clear contact details of the nominator with their address and telephone number. By entering the competition, the winner has agreed to take part in publicity.

All the entries will be put into a hat and the first one pulled randomly from the hat will be invited to be the star.

The closing date for nominations is Monday November 14 at 5pm.
