Second phase of Horsham district recycling

THE second phase of the 'AcornPlus' household refuse and recycling scheme starts soon.

Householders in Shermanbury, Ashurst, West Grinstead, Wiston, Washington, Ashington, Storrington and Sullington, Parham, Amberley, Coldwaltham, Pulborough and some in Cowfold, Henfield, Thakeham, Steyning, West Chiltington, Steyning and West Chiltington will soon be receiving their new 'AcornPlus' recycling bin together with the important information pack containing detailed instructions, collection calendar and 'recycling wheel' leaflet.

Horsham District Council is phasing the introduction of its new 'AcornPlus' household refuse and recycling scheme for the Horsham District over the next year allowing it to effectively manage individual enquires and ensure that the householders' needs are accommodated wherever possible.

The second phase, covering the areas above, is due to start week beginning October 12.

Horsham District Council has also invested in help from community volunteers and has a specialist team to ensure there is additional support for all residents.

The scheme will enable householders to recycle more by allowing a wider range of material to be put together in one bin. New materials that can be recycled include corrugated cardboard, all types of paper, junk mail, waxed food and beverage cartons and glass bottles and jars.

Non-recyclable waste will continue to be collected weekly.

The contents of the new 'AcornPlus' blue lidded bin will be sent to a state of the art recycling facility in the county. Specialist equipment inside the building will mechanically sort all of the recyclables for use as raw material in various manufacturing processes.
