A ten-year-old boy from Horsham has raised more than £300 for Children in Need by spending one hour busking in the town centre.

Joshua Cooper of Winterbourne, has been playing the harmonica for about two years and last month he retained his title of UK National Junior Champion in the Solo Melodic and Diatonic Harmonica section at the National Harmonica League annual competition.

He decided to put his musical talent to more good use by playing for shoppers in the town centre to raise money for Children in Need.

Joshua, who goes to All Saints CofE Primary School, spent just an hour busking outside Swan Walk Shopping Centre near Boots, during which time Horsham shoppers donated £302.32.

His mum Andrea said: “We are so proud of him. He just want to do something for Children in Need. He couldn’t do it on the Friday so he did it on the Saturday and the people in Horsham were just so generous.”
