Ricky Butler murder trial latest - witness asked to demonstrate attack

A TEENAGE witness was asked to show a jury exactly how the nunchuk which killed Ricky Butler was used.

The teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was giving evidence by video link when the weapon was brought to her.

Prosecutor Charles Miskin QC asked her to take it and show the court how it was held and swung.

She did not want to touch it, and Judge Richard Brown told her: "If you don't want to, there's no reason why you have to do this."

She replied: "I don't want to," and was allowed to leave.

Richard Martin, 19, of Heath Way, Horsham, has denied murdering popular Forest School pupil Ricky, 15.

He also denies wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm to another teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons.

The court heard that Martin gatecrashed the 'pimps and hos' fancy dress party, in Gorringes Brook, Horsham.

One witness said Ricky swore at Martin as he was leaving.

The prosection says Martin returned a few minutes later, armed with the nunchuk.

Martin denies murder. The case continues.
