The new Holbrook Community Centre will open its doors with a fun day in October thanks to the formation of a new charitable organisation.
The open day will take place in Holbrook School Lane on Saturday October 6 between 10am and 2pm, where community groups that use the centre will showcase their activities and clubs, while people who are thinking about hiring the centre can see what is on offer.
Family games will be organised by the scouts, with refreshments available. The official opening ceremony will start at noon.
Holbrook Community Centre is a new charitable organisation, replacing Horsham Youth Centre, and run by a management committee formed primarily of Holbrook Youth Centre trustees.
Ray Chapman, chairman of the management committee, said: “We have never closed our doors and have been working hard to secure the future of the building as a valuable community resource.
“Formalities between West Sussex County Council and the new management committee are now almost complete and we’d like to open our doors and share our success with you, the members of the community.”
Michael Brown (Con, Fernhurst), West Sussex County Council cabinet member for finance and resources, said: “Holbrook Community Centre is a key example of the community coming together and deciding to take on the running of an important local facility to ensure its future.”
Peter Catchpole (Con, Holbrook), who sits on the Holbrook Management Committee, added: “Your support will help ensure the continued success of the Holbrook Community Centre.”
