Reminder of Christmas waste collection times

There will be some changes to the Acorn Plus household refuse and recycling collections in the Horsham District over the Christmas and New Year period.

Additional blue topped bin recycling collections will be scheduled to deal with the festive packaging.

For full information, householders are encouraged to use the personalised collection calendar on the Horsham District Council website (www.horsham.gov.uk).

Brown topped bin collections for green garden waste will be suspended from Tuesday 18 December and will resume again on Tuesday January 15 2013.

On any of those scheduled brown topped bin collection days, residents can put their blue topped bins out for an addition recycling collection.

Collection days Tuesday 25 to Friday December 28 2012

During the week between Christmas and New Year, there will be no collections on Tuesday 25 or Wednesday 26 December.

Recycling and refuse will be collected two days later than usual with additional blue topped bin collections replacing any scheduled brown topped bin collections normally due this week, which will include the usual Thursday collection being done on Saturday.

For those that normally have a collection on Fridays, this collection will take place on Wednesday 2 January 2013.

Collection days - Tuesday 1 - Friday 4 January 2013

Recycling and refuse will be collected two days later than usual with additional blue topped bin collections replacing any scheduled brown topped bin collections, normally due this week, which will include the usual Thursday collection being done on Saturday.

For those that normally have a collection on Fridays, this collection will take place on Tuesday 8 January 2013.

Collection days - Tuesday 8 January 2013 onwards:

Recycling and refuse collections will take place one day later, which will include the usual Friday collection being done on Saturday, with an additional blue topped bin collection replacing any scheduled brown topped bin collections.

Other recycling tips:

Wrapping paper: Please remove any bows, ribbons and excess sellotape first before putting in to the blue lidded bins for recycling. Foil and plastic wrapping paper cannot be recycled.

Christmas cards: Christmas cards and gift tags can be recycled in the blue lidded bin (just remove the string first)

Christmas Trees: Artificial Christmas Trees cannot be recycled, but real Christmas Trees can be disposed of at the local Household Waste Recycling Site, alternatively it can be cut in to pieces and disposed of in the kerbside brown lidded bin.

This schedule is subject to further changes due to unforeseen circumstances such as severe weather and major events. Please check the Horsham District Council website for updates.
