Remember old Capitol with charity
Amid the popular reminiscing about the old Capitol Theatre in Horsham the local branch of the Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research Committee is staging a two-screen slide presentation entitled ‘Theatres and Cinemas of Horsham’.
The presentation by John Cannon will feature eleven places of entertainment, most notably the much-loved Capitol Theatre (1923 to 1983), which was demolished when the town centre was redeveloped.
The publication of vintage pictures in the pages of the County Times recently provoked a flurry of memories from people recalling events they had either attended of performed in.
The charity’s event on Friday February 22 at 7.30pm in Warnham Village Hall, will include a fish and chip supper and dessert. Tickets are £15 and can be ordered from Peggy Barnett on 01403 258744.
Nearly 20,000 people are diagnosed with either leukaemia and lymphoma blood cancers every years and the charity is leading research into tailoring treatments to individuals rather than a one size fits all approach.
