Reality behind Social Work Day - audio

WORLD Social Work Day is being celebrated today (March 17).

Yet when words such as 'social worker' are mentioned, people often think of child protection, and the problems and difficulties which can arise.

However, social workers are involved at both ends of the spectrum – especially with older people... people such as June Wilde, who is 80 and cares for her 83-year-old husband John.

June's daily life is helped by West Sussex Social Services – and to give us some idea of what that means, she came with her social worker, Julie Spencer, to talk to Chris Rider from West Sussex County Council.
