A ‘selfless volunteer’ behind Kirdford Village Stores has been presented with a new award created by the Prime Minister to honour outstanding volunteers.

Sue Ransley, chair of the community shop in Russett Place, has received a ‘Point of Light Award’ from PM David Cameron which recognises people who are making a change in their community and inspiring others.

Sue helped to raise almost £250,000 through grants and fundraising and with the support of the local community managed to get enough funding to open Kirdford Village Stores in 2010.
