Pole to pole heroes complete epic journey
RECORD-breaking Christ's Hospital adventurers Rob Gauntlett and James Hooper have completed their epic Pole to Pole journey.
The former classmates, both aged 20, have just finished a 26,000 mile expedition from the North Pole to the South Magnetic Pole using only human and natural power.
Yesterday (Thursday April 24) they sailed through the final check point, the South Magnetic Pole.
Speaking via satellite phone Rob said: "It has been an exhausting year, especially down in the Southern Ocean where the bitter cold and severe weather systems have battered us for the last two months."
The intrepid adventurers have skied, dog-sled, sailed and cycled all the way through Greenland, USA, Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Cost Rica, Panama, Ecuador, Peru, Chile, and Argentina to raise awareness about climate change and motivate their generation.
What do you make of Rob and James' achievement?
