A new Thai restaurant is due to open on April 15 in Horsham’s East Street.
Work has commenced on the Giggling Squid - situated at the unit where Giraffe once stood.
This week Giggling Squid owner, Andy Laurillard, told the County Times he first started looking to open a store in Horsham before East Street was pedestrianised.
“I think they’ve done a really great job of the development of the area,” he said.
“And we had lots of Crawley, Brighton and Reigate customers request that we open in the town.”
Mr Laurillard continued: “I love Horsham anyway.
“We looked at six different sites in the town over the last few of years - Town Hall, Nando’s site, Italian on Denne Road, Buenos Aires unit, and a Greek restaurant off the main square.
“I couldn’t make the numbers work until Giraffe came up.”
He added: “Since we put the sign up in the window I have had a load of welcoming emails from Horsham residents.
“We can’t wait to open.”
The Thai has units across Sussex.
Meanwhile, an application has been submitted to Horsham District Council by Nando’s to sell alcohol.
The restaurant has acquired a unit in Ye Old King’s Head Hotel, neighbouring ASK.
