NEW CHIEF executive officer of Age UK Horsham, Janice Leeming, was impressed with the warm and welcoming atmosphere she found at Lavinia House in Denne Road, Horsham.
Janice takes up the post on March 5, joining Age UK Horsham from Age UK East Sussex, where she has been director of services for more than three years, leading a team of more than 300 staff and volunteers.
She has more than 15 years’ successful experience of working in national and local charities, both executive and non-executive roles, as well as commercial experience gained in international public relations.
Vivien Lyth, chairman, said: “We were looking for a chief executive who has the drive and vision to lead us to the next stage of our development. We believe Janice is that person.
“As an independent charity we need to identify and respond to the changing needs of the increasing and ageing population.
“For instance, the number of people over the age of 60 in the 205 square miles of Horsham district is projected to increase to 32,800 by the year 2025, an increase of 60 per cent.
“We are looking to strengthen existing, and build new, partnerships which lead to the development of innovative and affordable services that will help to provide an improved quality and enjoyment to later life. ”
Janice said she was ‘truly delighted’ to be joining Age UK Horsham District and was looking forward to working with the trustees, staff, volunteer teams and the local community to take forward the charity’s work.
