New directory of services for elderly people to launch

Horsham District Older Persons' Service Directory produced by Horsham District Council and Horsham Wellbeing

Horsham District Older Persons' Service Directory produced by Horsham District Council and Horsham Wellbeing

Horsham District Wellbeing is re-launching Horsham District Council’s Older Persons’ Directory later this month in conjunction with partners that also support older people.

Age UK Horsham District will be hosting a free to attend afternoon tea with activity and information to re-launch the directory at Lavinia House in Horsham from 1:30pm on Tuesday 12 March.

There will also be a drop-in open day at the Dingemans Centre in Steyning from 11am to 3:30pm on the same day.

Horsham District Wellbeing is a free, friendly and impartial service delivered by Horsham District Council and other partners, which is funded by Public Health at West Sussex County Council.

The directory contains a listing of facilities and services available to older people in the Horsham District and is an important tool for providing older people with vital information that supports them to lead healthy, active and independent lives.

It is also a useful reference for professionals and volunteers working with older people.

The directory is already available to download from the Horsham District Council website.

For those unable to access it online, a copy of the Older Persons’ Service Directory may be obtained by calling Horsham District Wellbeing on 01403 215111.

Sue Rogers, Horsham District Council’s Cabinet Member for a Safer and Healthier District, said: “Access to information and services, such as those within the directory, can identify solutions that will help to allow our older residents to remain independent and enjoy a good quality of life.”

The Wellbeing Hub can also help people to find other local wellbeing information and services.

Anyone can get support for things such as getting the family fitter, doing some regular exercise, dealing with stress, kicking a habit, or simply improving their general wellbeing.

Contact details for the venues are as follows: Age UK Horsham District - 01403 260560 and Dingemans Centre - 01903 879297.
