A music ‘hub’ for young people in the Horsham district and across the county is being looked at next week.
The future operation of the West Sussex music service is on the agenda for the Children and Young People’s Services Select Committee, which meets on Wednesday November 28, at 10.30am, at County Hall, West Street, Chichester, PO19 1RQ.
West Sussex County Council Music Service successfully bid for £2.3 million to set up a Music Education Hub in West Sussex earlier this year.
The Hub, together with partners, will offer a ‘one-stop shop’ for the provision of music education services for children and young people across the county.
Chairman of the Committee Richard Burrett said: “The Hub will combine the work of the Music Service with partners from the private, voluntary and charitable sectors, business and the music industry.
“A lot of work has taken place to develop the Hub since the successful bid for funding earlier this year. We will be receiving an update on progress to develop the Hub in West Sussex and will give our views as a committee on how we think it should operate.”
Also on the agenda for the Committee meeting is a report looking at proposals for the future operation of the Education Welfare Service.
