Murder inquiry - search for weapon

POLICE are searching for the weapon believed to be involved in the death of teenager Ricky Butler.

A police search dog, named Dot, was brought in and officers have been scouring the nearby area to Gorringes Brook, in Pondtail Road, Horsham, for a pair of nunchakus (also called nunchuks).

These consist of two bars connected by chain or rope and are used in martial arts.

They were first made famous by legendary actor Bruce Lee in his action films.

Police concentrated their search on gardens near Gorringes Brook and a nearby small bridge.

Leaflets have been distributed to residents in the area, asking them to check their own property in case the weapon was thrown into their garden.

According to Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia website, 'possession of nunchaku is illegal in a number of countries, including Belgium, Germany, Norway and Spain.

In the United Kingdom it is legal to own for martial arts purposes, although public possession is not allowed unless transporting between a place of training and a private address'.

Operation Annscroft has been set up by police who are asking for any witnesses or anyone with information to contact them on 0845 60 70 999 or call crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111, quoting Operation Annscroft.
