Littlehaven homes approved on appeal after council refusal

Plans for three homes to be built in Littlehaven, which were refused by Horsham District Council in February, have been successfully contested on appeal.

Councillors on the development management committee north committee went against their officers’ recommendation and refused planning permission for one detached and two semi detached homes at 30 Rusper Road, Horsham with access via Millthorpe Road.

There was existing permission for two houses to be built on the land and the committee voted that the proposed development ‘would result in overdevelopment of the site, failing to have regard to the character and pattern of development within the area to the detriment of the visual amenities and character of the locality’.

Rookwood Homes Ltd took the decision to appeal and the inspector overturned the committee’s decision agreeing with the HDC officer’s recommendation.
