Lions in town centre this Saturday

CRAWLEY Lions are on the hunt for a host of new volunteers to make up a brand new branch of the club.

Members from the club will be at the band stand in Queens Square on Saturday, April 11 and 18 between 9am and 5pm encouraging members of the public to join a new branch.

The original Crawley Lions Club has been in existence since 1962 playing an important part in the community, including volunteer work and raising money for local charities.

Unfortunately in recent years the number of volunteers has dwindled in Crawley which has prevented it from doing important work in the community. Lions' organisers are now looking to set up the new branch to work alongside the original club.

Lions' member David Swain said: "Times have changed and we think we need a new impetus in the town and we think this will be best achieved by creating a new branch club of new people with new ideas.

"The Crawley Lions have done some fantastic work over the years and have worked on a variety of projects that have benefited the town.

"We would like to welcome anyone to join the new branch and anyone who wants to put something back into the community.

"By putting something back you can raise money for local causes right through to helping international causes."

Over the years, Crawley Lions has helped set up the Crawley Hospital Sonic Scanner Appeal, organised the Crawley carnival, provided specialist beds for Crawley Hospital, purchased a chalet bungalow at Pevensey Bay in order to provide holidays for families in need, donated money to eye camps in India and much more.

If you are interested in joining the Lions you can call Tom Osborne on (01403) 241167 or David Swain on (01273) 400721. Alternatively you can email tcsnoborne@aol.com
