Jewel of an idea to help hospice
A Chichester jewellers is helping to turn unwanted gems into glistening cash for St Wilfrid's Hospice.
Timothy Roe, who runs his business of the same name in South Street, is a keen supporter of the hospice and has now teamed up with it to raise much-needed funds, as well as helping the environment.
Timothy, who established his jewellery business in 1996, will be accepting anything containing gold, silver, platinum or other precious metals.
All items, which could include necklaces, coins and cameo brooches, will be valued as an item, based on antique or second-hand prices or at the best possible scrap price using that day's gold prices, and the sum donated to the hospice.
Timothy said: "I'm sure everybody has at least one piece of jewellery which they wouldn't mind seeing recycled and turned into a donation for St Wilfrid's.
"The good news is that because of the current market any gold given to us now will be worth twice as much as it was 18 months ago."
Items of unwanted jewellery can be dropped direct into the shop or posted via Royal Mail 'special delivery' service to Timothy Roe, 12 South Street, Chichester, PO19 1EH.
A receipt will be given or sent for donated items.
