Horsham Y Centre chief exits 'struggling' concern

JUST over three years after the launch of the Horsham Y Centre, its third chief executive is standing down as the organisation looks to its more established neighbours to manage it in the future.

Horsham YMCA is to merge with Hove YMCA from May 1, a day after Peter Scofield, the current chief executive officer, leaves to pursue other interests.

In a farewell interview with the County Times, Mr Scofield admitted the organisation had been struggling financially for some time.

The Y Centre was designed to house up to 48 young people, and encourage them to fulfil their potential and reach their goals. While the demand has been continuous, a significant revenue stream dried up early on in the centre's history.
