Are you a potential dashing Mr Darcy or a misguided Miss Bennet? Could you bring to life the creepy Mr Collins or the hilarious and high maintenance mother Mrs Bennet?

Horsham Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society is inviting new talent to audition for their own adaptation of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice taking place in June. Auditions are on Sunday January 27.

HAODS members Stacey Fox and Barry Syder are adapting the classic novel. Stacey recently played Adelaide in the HAODS production of Guys and Dolls at The Capitol, Horsham and with a masters degree in Theatre Direction, she is thoroughly enjoying the new and exciting challenge of re-working and directing one of her favourite books.

The novel beautifully and comically portrays English society in the early 1800s. The protagonists fight their natural instincts and battle with their heads and hearts from the very first page.

Knowing what is expected and following the rules sees classes clashing in a whirlwind of hilarity and heartache. Potential for true happiness and love is trapped behind pride whilst prejudice forces an array of internal struggles and torment.

Barry Syder, chairman of HAODS says: “Although we already have many talented actors within the society, we are always delighted to welcome new members.”

If you are interested in auditioning, please contact secretary@haods.co.uk or leave a message at 01403 210959 for more information.
