Horsham's painting of nude - what do you think?

MOTORISTS rubbernecking at a painting of a naked flower fairy in a Horsham shop window have sparked traffic chaos.

Horsham artist Elisabeth Charbonneau said she was shocked by the reaction to her eye-catching nude, which has caused traffic jams outside Gallery 204, in New Street, where it has been on display in the front window since Friday.

One passer-by this week warned gallery owner Vernon Holt she would complain to the council unless he removed the offending oil painting of a pink-haired fairy emerging from a flower with just a small, green leaf to protect her modesty.

"It's not graphic and it's certainly not sexual," Elisabeth, of Bennetts Road, said. "She's got pert little breasts, but it's very tasteful."

Elisabeth said: "It just seems silly that people would get upset about things like this.

"I didn't expect the reaction to my painting to be anything like this. People have the right to contact the council but I don't think this is something that they are going to be concerned with because it's not doing anybody any harm."

What do you think? Is the painting offensive or an attractive piece of art? Add your comments below.
