A horse was rescued by firefighters after becoming stuck in deep mud in Mannings Heath on Monday afternoon (February 10).

Technical rescue officers from West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service were called to a farm off Winterpit Lane just before 5.30pm, and moved the animal from the mud to firmer ground.

Using strops and a tractor they then helped the horse to its feet.

It was then walked to the stables and left in the care of its owner and the vet.
