Help! Share your Beatles memories
On this day, October 5th 1962, the fab four released their first single, ‘Love Me Do’. Only ranking at no.17 in the British charts, their introduction to the world of pop was not greeted with screams of hysteria at first.
Now, one of the most celebrated bands in the history of music, The Beatles have left an indelible mark in the hearts and minds of millions – including me, Simon Robb, a new reporter with the County Times.
In next week’s paper I will be writing about my passion for the the original boy band, but let’s back track to the swinging 60s.
I’d also like to hear your stories about the boys from Liverpool. Did you buy all their records? Attend any of their deafening concerts?
Who was you favourite and why? What was your reaction to John Lennon’s ‘bigger than Jesus’ remark? Where were you when he was shot?
Were you lucky enough to meet John, Paul, George or Ringo?
Drop me an email on simon.robb@sussexnewspapers.co.uk or give me a call to share your memories, 01403 751238.
