Celebrations were in full flow yesterday as one Horsham boy turned 12, on the 12th day of the 12th month, after being born just minutes after midnight in the year 2000.
Millennium baby Charlie Mark Redondo Francis, who enjoyed a day out go-karting and a visit to the cinema, says the digits make his birthday extra special.
The Tanbridge House School student said: “I’m glad my birthday was on 12, 12, 12, I always have lots of family around me which makes it really special.”
Mum Jenny, 33, gave birth to Charlie ten days late by emergency caesarean at the Princess Royal Hospital in Haywards Heath.
However, just four weeks later, the family were back in hospital after Charlie was diagnosed with severe bronchiolitis.
Jenny, who spent her 21st birthday in hospital, described the situation as a ‘nightmare’.
Charlie made a recovery, but does still suffer from a weak chest.
“He’s my angel, I can’t imagine our family without him,” Jenny told the County Times.
“He’s just lovely, so thoughtful and such a people pleaser. He’s so affectionate, he’s got such a lovely personality and just uplifts everyone.”
Speaking of Charlie’s neatly-timed birth, she added: “I find it all a bit spooky - what are the chances of that happening?
“I think he did it on purpose.”
The County Times joins the family - mum Jenny, dad Damian and sister Savannah - in wishing Charlie a happy 12th birthday.
