A ring was stolen from a home in Winterton Court, Horsham, after a man was seen knocking on doors and asking to buy jewellery in the area.

It is not known exactly when the theft occurred, but the man was spotted in the area two days before it was noticed the ring was missing.

The man is described as white, 6ft tall, in his late 50s with black hair, and was dressed in a white shirt with pin stripe trousers.

He was carrying a black briefcase and was described as being ‘pushy’.

A Police spokesperson said the man was invited into a house and followed the victim into various rooms where he looked through drawers looking for jewellery.

When he couldn’t find anything he became frustrated, police added.

The gold ring was found to be missing two days later.

Police are appealing for witnesses. Anyone with information can contact police on 101 quoting serial 0973 of 22/05/14.
