G20 summit - police advice to drivers in Lower Beeding

AS THE world's finance leaders are set to gather in Lower Beeding from Friday (March 13), police have issued the following advice.

They are warning motorists to drive particularly carefully on the A281 and between Cowfold (A272) and Horsham, from Thursday evening (March 12) until Sunday evening (March 16).

Drivers on B2110 and other B and C roads around Lower Beeding, in the vicinity of South Lodge Hotel, and Leonardslee lakes and gardens, are also encouraged to take greater care over the coming weekend.

Chief Inspector Gordon Denslow said: "Traffic on the A281 is likely to be heavier than usual this weekend, as a large numbers of media will be in the area.

"We would urge motorists to slow down considerably, and expect to find temporary pedestrian crossings near South Lodge Hotel and Leonardslee gardens.

"Police signage will be in place at the roadside reminding drivers to keep their speed down. Police Community Support Officers will be assisting pedestrians.

"Our general advice is to slow down and take extra care, particularly on bends.

"To ease any congestion, please plan your journey ahead, and take an alternative route wherever possible. It would be advisable to stay away from the area if your journey is non essential."
