Find out more about fostering in Billingshurst

A drop-in session to find out more about fostering and how to become a foster carer takes place in Billingshurst this month.

The drop-in session is being held on Wednesday January 23, from 10am to 4pm, at Billingshurst Library, Mill Lane, Billingshurst, RH14 9JZ.

It’s a chance to speak to members of West Sussex County Council’s fostering team, to ask any questions about fostering and find out what being a foster carer involves.

Cabinet Member for children and families Peter Evans said: “Our foster carers provide a safe and secure environment for some of our most vulnerable children and young people. They also provide a caring family, giving children a chance to flourish and grow in their new environment.

“Being a foster carer is very rewarding – I would urge anyone who is considering it, or would like to find out more, to come along to the drop-in session.”

Foster carers come from all walks of life and from a range of cultural and ethnic backgrounds. People from a variety of backgrounds can apply to foster, regardless of their marital status or sexuality.

Fostering can be either short or long-term and can range from just a few days to several years. There are also several types of fostering.

Foster carers receive a comprehensive support package from the Council, including ongoing training and financial allowances to meet the needs of the children and young people in their care.

Drop-in sessions are being held throughout the county in 2013. To find out more about fostering, or for future drop-in dates, visit the website at www.westsussex.gov.uk/fostering or call 01403 229333.
