Farmers could suffer if grants are cut

RURAL businesses and the environment in Sussex could suffer if the Government make cuts to financial support for farmers and landowners, the RSPB has warned.

The charity has voiced its concerns in the run up to the Government's Comprehensive Spending Review.

The RSPB is particularly concerned about the future of Higher Level Stewardship (HLS)1.

This is a scheme that supports farmers and other landowners who deliver significant benefits to the environment.
