Family suffer double tragedy
THE SON of a woman killed by a train in Crawley has died after an horrific motor bike accident.
Scott Powell, 20, of East Grinstead, was killed when the bike he was travelling on crashed into a fence.
The accident happened at 5.55am on Sunday, in Racecourse Road, Lingfield, near the junction of St Piers Lane.
Two people were on the back of a blue-and-white off-road Yamaha motorcycle when the fatal crash happened.
Scott sustained fatal injuries and another male was hurt.
A second male was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
It is not clear at this stage who was driving.
Mum-of-two Linda Powell, 55, from East Grinstead, died when she was hit by a train on the Horsham Road level crossing on May 19.
A Surrey Police spokesman said: "It is believed that the vehicle lost control and collided with fencing.
"We are appealing for anyone who saw a bike matching this description driving in the area to contact us."
Another police spokesman said: "The family is taking it very hard, as would be expected after a double tragedy like this. I'm sure in time they will want to talk and pay tribute to Scott and Linda but for the moment they are just trying to come to terms with it all."
