The court heard that police were called to a crash in Barns Green on November 20 last year.

Green’s Ford motor home had hit a parked car, left the road, and come to rest in a hedgerow.

A breath test showed he had 92mcg alcohol in 100ml breath, compared with a legal limit of 35mcg.

Green was jailed for 16 weeks, and banned from driving for six years, with an £80 victim surcharge. He will have to pass an extended driving test before he can get his licence back.

A statement from Sussex Police said: “Green’s arrest was one of many made during Operation Dragonfly, which resulted in numerous drink or drug drive convictions across the county.

“Anyone with information about drink or drug driving is urged to contact Sussex Police by texting details to 65999 or contacting the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 (www.crimestoppers-uk.org).”
