Crime falls in Adur
CRIME in Adur has fallen by more than 10 per cent, according to statistics released by Sussex Police.
The figures, based on recorded crimes between April 1 and November 15, show a 10.1 per cent decrease in total crime when compared to the same period last year – higher than the Sussex Police target of three per cent.
Inspector Chris Smith, of Adur's neighbourhood policing team, said: "The policing teams in Adur strive to provide a quality service to the community we serve.
"The professional approach we adopt in reducing crime and bringing criminals to justice clearly reflects in the crime figures shown."
During the period, burglary fell by 17.9 per cent, vehicle crime by 9.8 per cent and criminal damage by 8.9 per cent.
Violent crimes causing injury, for example assault, also decreased by 5.1 per cent, compared to a 17.4 per cent rise in Worthing.
The figures also showed more than 90 per cent of victims reported satisfaction with how easy it was to contact the police and nearly 80 per cent were satisfied with how they were kept informed.
Adur is falling just below the 2009-10 target for satisfaction with the action taken – achieving 76.6 per cent compared to the target of 80 per cent.
The district also has more repeat domestic abuse victims than the target of 19 per cent, with a total of 42.2 per cent.
