Chelsea flowers at Arundel
FOR THOSE who didn't get the chance to visit this year's Chelsea Flower Show there's good news for local residents in Arundel as some of the exhibits are about to be installed in the famous garden at the brand new Garden Spa in Tarrant Street.
"Every year at the end of the Chelsea Flower Show there's a mad rush to buy up the gorgeous plants that the exhibitors have used to create their displays. This year, our team joined the stampede to help restore the historic garden that is now the centre piece of our fabulous spa," said Debbie Medlock, managing director of the new venture.
The Garden Spa is housed in the Grade II listed building, formerly the Eagle Brewery in Tarrant Street, but the building has also been a private home before that.
In 1675, Edward Hamper and his wife, Joane, owned the garden and bequeathed it to the local Quaker community, as well as opening up his well to provide a clean source of water for residents, who were used to drinking from the Arun!
"Edward Hamper was a great philanthropist in Arundel and we feel priviledged to be able to restore his garden so that our guests can enjoy it," said Debbie.
The Garden Spa garden has an English Country Feel to it as well as being home to a wide selection of local herbs.
"Many of today's spas are urban, but we wanted to create a place of tranquility and relaxation for our clients, which is why our courtyard garden is perfect to get away from it all and our new Chelsea additions compliment it superbly!" Said Debbie.
