Bum rap for flasher
A MAN that flashed his bum at two young girls walked free from court after magistrates told him to 'put it behind him'.
Bo King, 24, of Highgate Court, Moyne Road, Broadfield, pleaded guilty to causing intentional harassment or distress at Crawley Magistrates' Court today (Wednesday, July 23).
The court heard how on April 16 King rode his push bike up to two 15-year-old girls in Maidenbower before exposing his rump.
Prosecuting Sally Edwards said: "He dropped his trousers and showed his rear.
"He asked the girls 'can I ask you a question? Is this a nice one?"
Later the victim, who cannot be named for legal reasons, spotted King working in a chip shop in Maidenbower.
Ms Edwards explained: "She saw him working in a chip shop and called him a pervert - then reported it to her mum."
Unemployed King wore a white shirt in court and stood rooted to the spot as magistrates decided his fate.
Defending Paul Hedley-Saunders said: "I would ask for you to take in to account the defendant's early guilty plea. He did not want to put the victim through a trial.
He added: "He does have emotional problems, perhaps you might adjourn for reports."
Chair of the magistrates Dr Alan Forbes said: "We have considered the circumstances of this event and the impact on the victim a young lady of 15.
"We are giving you a conditional discharge for 18 months. You are not be punished for this today but if commit another offence in those 18 month it will be resurrected.
"We are giving you the opportunity to put this behind you."
King accepted his conditional discharge with a smile and was ordered to pay 60 court costs.
