Britain’s Got Talent stars come to Horsham

Waiting for Video...

Britain’s Got Talent star The Zimmers were rehearsing near Horsham this afternoon for upcoming projects.

The singing and dancing group made up of people aged 65 and over made their name by celebrating being young at heart. They released their first single My Generation six years ago and last week they were rehearsing at St John’s Church Hall in Broadbridge Heath.

Since their days on BGT they have been to Munich, Berlin and toured Ireland entertaining hundreds of people.

The singing group The Zimmers started hitting national news when they released a charity single of The Who classic My Generation to raise money for Age Concern after appearing in a BBC documentary in 2007.

Fifteen member of the band, including John Langridge and 89 year-old Gracie Cook, appeared on Britain’s Got Talent in 2012, and reached the semi-finals. Since then they have been invited all over the world to inspire others and bring generations together.

John said: “Gracie has a wonderful voice and for her The Zimmers has opened up a new opportunity. We were invited to Germany and were given a blue badge on the Berlin Bridge. They’ve got names like Stephen Hawking on there, so to be named like that in a different country was amazing.”

Gracie said: “I’ve been singing since I was six years old. I’ve always been in showbusiness. The Zimmers are brilliant. I keep people pulling me over in the street now saying why don’t e see you on telly more. It’s lovely.”

Now they are working on projects including a promotional video for a film called OAPZ and some music videos. Watch the video on the County Times website to see them in rehearsal.
