Bike helps make police environmentally friendly
A FOLD-UP bike is the latest device to help Sussex Police Specialist Search Unit reduce mileage and fuel costs and be more environmentally friendly.
Sergeant Lorna Dennison-Wilkins thanked South Downs Bikes for sponsoring them with the discounted bike.
“It will enable us to reduce our fuel costs and do our bit for the environment,” she said.
“The bike will be used alongside the unit’s free bus travel and will be used to get to appointments, do search planning in areas where a police car would be unable to get to and cycle to our workshops to pick up vehicles and equipment.
“It will have it’s first outing on Monday (February 20) when I cycle to a multi agency meeting at Hove Fire Station.”
