The director of Ark, a Horsham charity which supports people as they move on from homelessness, addictions, repeat offending and poverty, has welcomed the night shelter initiative announced this week.
The Horsham Churches Together group has pulled together to run a night shelter over December, January and February.
Ark director Lisa Burrell, who works with homeless in Horsham people everyday, said: “I think it’s exciting. It’s churches responding to the most vulnerable in the community. In the past couple of years we have had to seek places out of Horsham in Crawley, Chichester and once in Leatherhead. This year people won’t have to leave their local environment and can continue in the support network that’s existing for them the to get their lives back on track.”
Ark volunteers support people at Horsham United Reformed Church on Monday 1am to 3pm, Tuesday 2pm to 9pm and Thursday 9am to 5pm. For more information ring Lisa on 07825 284054.
