The 2012 Dressed for Success campaign that aims to make all Horsham town centre ground floor window displays even more fantastic this Christmas got underway last week with a launch event that attracted over 60 partners and potential participants.

With around 1,000 votes cast and over 50 businesses involved last year, the drive is on to make 2012 bigger and better than ever before with new Facebook and twitter voting options, pavement ‘Vote for Me’ stickers and all manner of public and staff incentives to encourage everyone who visits or works in Horsham to get involved.

The ‘Dressed for Success’ initiative is now entering its third year of a five year vision, managed by Horsham Unlimited - the town centre’s business partnership - with key stakeholder Horsham District Council co-ordinating arrangements for the launch event and other programme elements.

The launch evening last Wednesday September 12 was hosted by Crompton’s at The Olive Branch in Horsham with presentations from the Chair of Horsham Unlimited - town centre business partnership Gill Buchanan, Sarah Ediss of Spofforths, Horsham District Council’s town centres and events manager, Garry Mortimer-Cook and Ellie Kidson, from the Metamorphosis campaign’s training partner.

Chairman Gill Buchanan, who also manages Swan Walk, the town’s shopping centre said: “Seeing so many previous Dressed for Success partners as well as so many new faces at this year’s launch shows how much the business community is supporting and benefitting from this initiative. 2012 is our third year and we are really looking forward to not only seeing the fantastic results of Horsham’s business’s efforts but also further engaging our customers to vote and support their town centre. We will all be working hard to generate a significant increase on the 1000 votes cast and numbers of businesses involved last year.

Dressed for Success will be our lead campaign this Christmas alongside the promotion of late night shopping, supporting Horsham Markets and their additional dates and Horsham Churches Together in delivering their annual Carol Singing and Firework event on The Forum. All dates and events will be publicised in the local media and on www.horshamunlimited.co.uk.”

For the third straight year, Spofforths LLP are lead sponsor and Partner Sarah Ediss expressed their commitment to the campaign in her presentation to Horsham’s business community.

Ms Eddis said: “Once again, we are delighted to sponsor this inspiring campaign which provides the perfect opportunity for the business community to work together and raise Horsham’s profile as a top shopping destination.

“The launch event was a great success and it was wonderful to meet so many local retailers and find out how they plan to be involved. We ran a free prize draw during the event, which proved extremely popular, and we look forward to announcing the winner soon.”

Roger Paterson (Con, Pulborough and Coldwaltham), cabinet member for the local economy, said: “Horsham Unlimited and our team deserve to be congratulated on the popularity and growth of their Dressed for Success initiative, which has made Horsham’s shop window displays so outstanding in recent years.

“It was great to see this year’s launch so well supported by Horsham’s business and retail community and we can look forward to even better windows in Horsham this year. Roll on Christmas, Horsham residents and visitors are going to be in for a seasonal treat!”

Voting for your favourite Horsham Christmas window starts on Saturday November 17 when Horsham will officially be ‘Dressed for Christmas’.
