A-level records smashed - video
STUDENTS smashed A-level records and secured more Horsham district places at the world's top universities than ever before on a triumphant results day yesterday.
There were scenes of joy across the district as schools and colleges enjoyed stunning academic success – scoring more top grades than in any other year.

An incredible group of Horsham students stole the headlines with outstanding performances at the College of Richard Collyer, in Hurst Road, that saw four of them placed in the top five electronics candidates in the country with a series of excellent results - including the UK's highest mark.
And Collyer's wasn't the only centre to enjoy fantastic success.
Billingshurst's Weald School head teacher Peter May hailed his school's best ever average university entry points score and Steyning Grammar School boasted a string of students who picked up impressive straight As grade hauls.

An elite handful of Horsham district students were picked out by their head teachers this week after picking up an amazing five As each.
Bryony Clark reached the milestone at Collyer's and Lorna-Belle Harty matched the score at AS-level.
The director general of UK exam board AQA sent his personal congratulations to Collyer's star electronics students Harry Wilcox, Jonathan Steele, Darren Richardson and Josh Gupwell.
Collyer's Ruth Lloyd, 18, was among the top ten textiles students in the country.
Billingshurst's Weald School recorded a 98 per cent pass rate – with half of all candidates picking up grades A and B.
And Steyning Grammar School beat the national average with its grades and confirmed its places as one of the county's premier centres of sixth form excellence with a 99 per cent pass rate - 47 per cent at grade A or B.
There was also huge success at the district's private schools.
Proud Christ's Hospital School head teacher John Franklin, said he was delighted with the 99 per cent pass rate his students registered.
Top achiever Rosa Blaus was one of the handful of Horsham district pupils who picked up a maximum five grade As.
Farlington School head teacher Jonnie Goyer praised the hard work and commitment of all the girls and staff.
And there was also great excitement at Cranleigh School's 100 per cent pass rate.
