LETTER: Area cannot cope with influx

I have been told that residents of the new housing in Broadbridge Heath are having to register with the Doctors’ Surgery in Billingshurst.

Apart from the inconvenience for those people of having to travel to Billingshurst, I had understood that our surgery was already full and that is before the 475 new houses planned for Billingshurst are built.

For many years, the residents of this district have been telling our previous MP, Francis Maude, Horsham District Council, West Sussex County Council and the Planning Inspector, that the area cannot cope with the number of new houses proposed.

When I voted for the Conservatives in 2010, I was delighted to see the back of the wretched Labour Government and believed that the Tories would put an end to the abominable Prescott plans for flooding the South of England with new housing.

Instead, if anything the Tories have increased the housing numbers.

So much for conserving anything.

So Mr Quin, are you going to address the issues that face your local community, such as that highlighted above?

Come to Billingshurst, see the number of commuters’ cars parked on residential roads during the week, try driving on our roads during the rush hour, or even during the day and now try getting a GP’s appointment, let alone a hospital one.

I would suggest that, as a supporter of the Remain group of Conservative MPs, you might not be wise to tell your constituents, the housing is required to accommodate the influx of EU nationals arriving.

In closing, a wise man once wrote, ‘’we do not inherit the planet from our ancestors, but we borrow it from our children’.

The way things are going, there will be little of England for our children.
