LETTER: Airport impact not addressed

This letter refers back to previous letters regarding councillor Louise Goldsmith's involvement with Gatwick Diamond and her stance on Gatwick Airport's proposed second runway.

I would like to make the point that although she states that she and West Sussex County Council have to be alive to the possibility that the expansion could occur at Gatwick or Heathrow she seems to ignore the facts that the massive increase in traffic caused by additional passengers, airport workers and freight, as well as a huge requirement for new homes to be constructed in the northern parts of West Sussex will no doubt occur if Gatwick is given the go-ahead.

We have seen no infrastructure plans for development from WSCC should Gatwick succeed, even in outline, but Gatwick Diamond, for whom Cllr Goldsmith is their WSCC representative, are probably rubbing their hands in glee at the prospect.

WSCC voted quite definitely against Gatwick expansion, but to date Cllr Goldsmith has not addressed the environmental impact on West Sussex in any of her responses.
