Having seen pictures of the Capitol in the local paper, it brought back so many memories to me. In around 1956 the four of us in the photo belonged to the choir in the WI conducted by the village school head teacher Mr Harris.
We at his request, made up a foursome and we called ourselves the Harmony Four.
We sang first at the village hall at Christmas. We sang many times at the Capitol Theatre during the next few years, also at RAFA Dances.
Mrs Goodman, who lived in Barns Green, was our pianist, she was fantastic and got us a lot of venues in several big hotels, local and away.
I particularly remember one. It was in London at the Bush House Restaurant and we sang with Malcolm Lockyer and his band, it was a lovely night to remember. We also sang at the Masonic Hall in Horsham on several occasions.
The Capitol was such a lovely place to be on stage.
The years have gone quickly, Olive Goacher passed away a while ago but Eileen, Mavis and myself are still living in Sullington Mead. We are all past 80 years now and a lot has changed in the world, but I think we had the best years.
