Landmark pub looking for a new publican

The Coach House in Horsham Road, Cowfold, closed abruptly earlier this year.

Notices on the building say the freehold owners entered the premises ‘for the purposes of making them safe’ on January 10.

A statement from Enterprise Inns, which owns the Coach House, said: “We can confirm that the Coach House has closed following the former publican’s decision to cease trading.

“Minor works are currently being carried out at the property and we are actively recruiting for a new publican to take the business forward.

“This is a fantastic opportunity to develop a drinks, food and letting room offering in a village setting; anyone interested in finding out more can call us on 0800 953 0072.”

The pub’s website, now shut down, advertised it as a traditional English pub, with accommodation in the former stable block next door.

It also promoted the location as being only two miles from picturesque Leonardslee Gardens, and close to Hickstead showjumping course, and the vintage trains of Bluebell Railway.
