JUST days into the New Year plans for street parties to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in June are already underway.
Three road closures for street parties have already been announced to mark the monarch’s 60-year reign on Sunday June 3 - and more applications are expected.
The residents of The Causeway, Horsham, have applied for their road to be off limits to traffic on Sunday June 3 from 9am to 7.30pm and the Parish Millennium Group in Mannings Heath will be hosting a street party in Golding Lane, meaning it will be closed from 11.30am to 5pm.
Celebrations will continue on Monday June 4, which will be a Bank Holiday this year, and residents of Friday Street in Rusper are some of the first to apply for their road to be closed from 11am to 6pm.
People wishing to hold a street party for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee or The Olympics should contact Horsham District Council as soon as possible to apply for a temporary road closure order.
An application form can be downloaded at www.horsham.gov.uk/transport/6503.aspx
