This morning the Reds manager put five of his first team players on the transfer list. They are: club captain Josh Simpson, striker Matt Harrold, goalkeeper Brian Jensen, and midfielders Lewis Young and Conor Henderson.

They will be available for immediate loan or permanent transfer when the window re-opens on January 1.

John said: “We need to freshen things up and I feel the players whom we have transfer-listed will benefit from the stimulus of a new challenge and more regular first-team football elsewhere.

“We have re-grouped today and we’re looking forward to the challenge we face at Oldham on Saturday.
