A WARNING about a loft insulation scam has been put out by Horsham District Council and Sussex Police.
There have been an increasing number of reports that some areas of the district have been targeted by a company or companies cold calling and claiming to be working in partnership with the councill.
No scheme connected to Horsham District Council involves cold calling by telephone.
Any bona fide council home visits will always be preceded by a letter featuring the council’s logo and no payment is required before work has been carried out.
There are genuine insulation grants of varying amounts available to all residents, and the council encourages residents to insulate their homes before it gets cold again, but people need to be vigilant.
Both of the local council schemes (with HCL Energy and HeatSeekers) are promoted to residents in the district using mailed letters.
If residents have any doubts or queries about any energy efficiency matters or would like to sign up to one of the council’s insulation schemes, they can call 01403 215281 or send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org
