Campaigning students from Collyer’s in Horsham have called for cheaper travel fares for 16 and 17 year olds.

The group argue that teenagers who are legally children, on a child’s wage and in full-time education should not have to pay adult fares.

Currently, passengers aged 16 and over are charged adult fares by providers such as Southern Rail and Metrobus.

In a matter of days, an online petition started by the students behind the ‘FareTravel’ campaign has amassed hundreds of signatures.

The group has also received support on social media, and have set up a Facebook page and Twitter profile.
