The Co-op in North Parade opened its doors to the public again on Friday March 10.

The new-look store will focus on fresh, healthy foods, meal ideas and essentials and will also feature new self-service check outs.

It will also bring an added boost to three organisations through a membership scheme.

People who sign up will receive a five per cent reward on purchases of own-branded products and services. A further one per cent will go to help Rudgwick Pre School, Horsham Community Responders and Horsham Lions Club.

Keith Rodaway, Store Manager for the Co-op, said: “We are delighted to have made such a significant investment in our North Parade store, it has a great new look and we are looking forward to re-launching and serving the community. The Co-op is moving forward with a clear purpose and momentum and our ambition is to establish the store as a local hub, a real asset for the community. It is an exciting time for the whole team.”

Horsham Lions said more than £1,700 has been nominated for the club and the money is set to be spent on high viz jackets for youth clubs.

The organisation has already provided 500 jackets for local primary schools.

Seb Griffiths, area manager for the Co-op, added: “The return to our ‘clover leaf’ design logo – first used in the 1960s – aims to re-establish the Co-op as a centre for the community, and we want shoppers to know that they can become a co-owner and member of their Co-op. We are also giving back to the community. Our members have an opportunity to make a difference locally. Simply by using their membership card when they shop with us they will raise much needed funding for organisations who contribute to improving local life.”

Weatherhead, the contractors which carried out the alterations at the store, presented Horsham Lions Club with a cheque for £250.

The club’s president Tom Osborne picked up the money at the store’s opening last week.
