ST JOHN Ambulance first aiders from across Sussex will join local dignitaries at the charity’s annual carol service in Horsham at the weekend.
The charity’s Horsham branch have organised the event this year, which will take place at St Mary’s Church on Sunday December 4, and the Lord Lieutenant of West Sussex Mrs Susan Pyper and Vice Lieutenant of East Sussex Mrs Sara Stonor will be there along with hundreds of volunteers.
Representatives from the emergency services in Sussex, adult St John Ambulance volunteers, young Cadets and Badgers and supporters of the nation’s leading first aid charity are all expected to attend.
Horsham St John Ambulance divisional president Trevor Vaughan said: “It is a real honour for our division to be organising this year’s carol service.
“It is a chance to celebrate all the wonderful work carried out by our volunteers throughout the year – work which makes such a big difference to so many people’s lives and in many cases saves lives.’
The carol service, which starts at 2.30pm, is being supported by the local Parish Council, Nuthurst Choir, Tesco Extra in Horsham and JR Print.
St John Ambulance has more than 1,000 adult volunteers and more than 700 youth members in Sussex.
