Horsham shoppers have raised £23,050 by donating 922 bags of clothes, homeware, books, DVDs and CDs to the Cancer Research Donation Station held in Swan Walk Shopping Centre last month.

Centre manager Gill Buchanan said: “We cannot thank our loyal and supportive customers enough. This year we had hoped to raise in excess of £10,000 to add to the running total of over £70,000 raised for Cancer Research UK over recent years.

“We have always experienced strong support for what has become an annual community event for Swan Walk but the 2012 result is outstanding.”

Victoria Godfrey from the Cancer Research shop in East Street said: “I would like to add my thanks for all the donations, many of which have already been sold in my store resulting in increased turnover and funding for Cancer Research UK.”
